What the projection implies
- It was prepared by the National Directorate of Mining Promotion and Economics (Mining Secretariat, April 2026) on 38 projects of copper, lithium, gold and silver at various stages, with prices from S&P Capital IQ.
- Copper would go from almost zero to more than half of mining exports in 2035; lithium would be the second engine.
- Gold would peak around 2030 and decline afterward, as the current mines mature.
- Everything depends on the projects securing financing, power, water, infrastructure and social license: it is a scenario, not a forecast.
