RIGI
Few renewable projects reach the RIGI minimum: those that entered are large farms tied to industries seeking their own energy. The AlmaGBA and AlmaSADI batteries are not in the RIGI: they are contracted through tenders.

What the RIGI is
- The Large Investment Incentive Regime was created by the Bases Law (27,742) in 2024 for projects of more than US$ 200 million (with higher minimums for some sectors).
- It provides 30 years of stability in tax, customs and foreign exchange: 25% income tax, accelerated depreciation, exemption from import and export duties and increasing free availability of export proceeds.
- Projects that export over the long term can qualify as a Long-Term Strategic Export Project, with additional benefits.
- It requires a minimum percentage of purchases from local suppliers (for example, 20% of the investment in the Perito Moreno expansion) and a committed investment schedule.
- In February 2026 the Government extended the deadline to join by one year. As of October 1, 2026 there were about US$ 56,000 million approved and about US$ 150,000 million under review.
Amounts are based on the resolutions and published information; they may differ between sources and between total investment and the portion that falls under the regime. "Under review" reflects the latest public data; some projects may have been approved since.
